Welcome to Gansvoort Farm!

My farm is located in New York’s Hudson Valley, a few hours north of New York City. I've been raising 100% grassfed sheep using intensive rotational grazing on organically-managed pastures with humane and sustainable practices since 2002.

In 2020 I decided to stop raising my own sheep but there are now more animals on the farm. A new neighbor, Dirty Dog Farm, is grazing some of their beef herd here starting in the spring of 2020, and Ben and Lindsey of Hearty Roots Community Farm are now raising sheep here with me helping to train their shepherd, Zuri. The first 15 Dorset-Texel ewes just arrived at the end of September 2021. I take pride in managing my land using methods that restore soil carbon and fertility, protect water quality and biodiversity, and provide a healthy, safe and natural environment for livestock. And although I don't have my own sheep here anymore, I am very excited to be collaborating with my neighbors to continue to produce healthy food!

*** Wool Comforters have arrived! ***

Wool comforters made from the spring 2022 shearing at a nearby sheep farm are now available at Hearty Roots across the road from my farm. Supplies are limited! See more pictures by clicking on link at left "Wool comforters and lamb pelts".

***** Sheep pelts ***

All the pelts from the last of my own flock are sold out now. It will be a few years before there are more from their new flock but keep an eye out on their social media sites in the spring. They make wonderful Christmas presents!
